Cleaning and treating dirty stormwater have never been easier with our exclusive FRÄNKISCHE Stormwater Treatment System.
There are some significant benefits to treating stormwater prior to storage, including ensuring your storage tank lasts longer without the sediment build-up that causes costly blockages.
It also allows the water to be recycled with significantly less bacteria build-up and turbidity, which means the post-filters and sterilization systems work more efficiently for the irrigation applications of urban trees, farming, landscaping and with further treatment even drinking.
With better urban planning and design, reusing treated stormwater can become a reality and is a solution to many drought-related problems in Australia. Water sensitive urban design (WSUD) needs to be embraced if we’re to effectively harvest nature’s free gift of stormwater and truly harness its potential benefits.
By including stormwater capture and treatment plans in your water sensitive urban design, you will be showing foresight and intelligence that benefits generations to come.
With many of the current water treatment systems being used as mostly a gross pollutant trap, many treatment systems are seriously underwhelming and underperforming in terms of actually cleaning and treating the stormwater runoff to make it reusable. This is where we differ. No other system in Australia removes the amount of small TSS Particles that ours does.
With the use of our exclusive technology, the FRÄNKISCHE SediPipe range gives you state-of-the-art stormwater treatment technology that meets the latest German engineering standards; DWA-102-2.
With the DWA-102-2 surpassing the Australian stormwater treatment standards (modelled through MUSIC), the three SediPipe options are designed to remove a higher proportion of the pollutants carried by the finer Total Suspended Solids or TSS particles in stormwater.
This means that it can be recycled and redistributed where it is needed, and given that Australians don’t have the luxury of wasting water, this system will become imperative moving forward or when planning for the future.
The DWA-102-2 guidelines require stormwater removal of Total Suspended Solids over 63 microns or TSS63 from industrial, commercial, highway and residential applications.
SediPipe’s flow separator not only ensures larger particles are removed from the water, but the exceptional design of the treatment pipe means that very fine Total Suspended Solids or TSS particles and micropollutants below 63 microns are also captured. This means that any pollutants that are bound to these particles are separated out as well.
Most other stormwater treatment systems on the market are gross pollutant traps that are nothing more than glorified trash collectors, not focussing on the finer materials that should be removed from stormwater in order to make it reusable and even potable.
As German stormwater treatment standards are higher than the current Australian standards, the FRÄNKISCHE SediPipe L system captures more of the finer particles than other systems on the market in Australia. Ours is a broad spectrum pollutant separator that removes significantly smaller particles, making our system necessary for the removal of finer particles.
If you want to clean and recycle stormwater, removing TSS63 particles and the chemicals and pollutants that are bound to them is imperative.

The DWA-A 102-2/BWK-A 3-2 guideline describes the best possible technology for treating polluted stormwater. It explicitly requires proof of performance (long-term proof) for the treatment systems.
To demonstrate the technology and performance in relation to these new DWA-A 102-2 standards, FRÄNKISCHE has developed a specific verification and validation testing methodology called the ‚dwell time method.‘
This long-term proof, in-situ test validation method is an industry recognised approval process in expert circles in Germany.
The dwell time testing methodology has been developed exclusively for sedimentation systems like the SediPipe by FRÄNKISCHE.
Features of the model are the calculation of the dwell time of the water overflowing at time t instead of a steady-state surface charge and the approach of the sedimentation process depending on this dwell time as well as finally a long-term simulation.
This model fundamentally takes into account the special flow separator technology of FRÄNKISCHE, which allows an optimised design of the system for the formation of the essential plug flow as well as batch behaviour.
The SediPipe treatment, removal and cleaning performance for TSS63 has already been integrated into the Australian MUSIC nodes and user guidelines that can be sent to you upon request.
